Henry Suso

Henry Suso
(c. 1300–66)
   Mystic and Devotional Writer.
Henry was born in Swabia. He joined a Dominican friary in Constance at the age of thirteen and he finished his education in Cologne under Meister eckhart. He is remembered for his mystical books, the most famous of which is Das Büchlein der Ewigen Weisheit. This has become a classic; it was widely read and was admired by thomas à kempis. It is intended as a practical guide to contemplation and includes a hundred short meditations on the passion of Jesus. He spent the later part of his life as an itinerant preacher and he was much in demand as a spiritual director in Dominican convents.
